The Story Behind this Food Blog
My name is Ashley Zezza and welcome to my food blog. My blog is dedicated to simple & inspiring recipes for everyone. Everything in my blog are my own recipes that I craft in my kitchen with help of my little partner Gingy (my pup). She is always looking for crumbs & cleaning up my messes & spills on the floor ( I am a messy cook) just waiting for little samples of food I’m cooking. She usually just sits on the floor giving me those pouty eyes and begging for a little treat or taste (Her FAVORITE is raw carrots haha).
My passion for cooking started when I was little. I was always helping in the kitchen prepping food and setting the table especially with my Grandma Zezza, “Lucille”. I come from a very Italian family and growing up we had spaghetti on the regular (like every Monday night), homemade raviolis every year for Christmas and olives were always on the table.
Growing up I have never been able to follow directions to a “T” especially a recipe. When I started cooking I would get inspiration from recipes, menus or new foods I had tried. In the kitchen I would wing everything; no recipe, no measuring cups, take a little of this and little of that to viola an impressive meal! It didn’t always turn out like that sometimes it would be too spicy or salty those are my most notorious problems. When I would whip something up for my friends and family they would always ask me to make it again or ask for the recipe. I started this blog to document the recipes I craft, for my love of food & cooking (especially for others) and for giving me something to do in those cold winters.
“Food is everything we are. It’s an extension of nationalist feeling, ethnic feeling, your personal history, your province, your region, your tribe, your grandma. It’s inseparable from those from the get-go.”
Anthony Bourdain
