Easy Homemade Vegetable Broth
The easiest homemade vegetable broth to make at home. All you need is water and veggies brought to a boil and then simmered for 1 hour, strain the veggies to remove them and there you have it homemade vegetable broth. You can use any veggies you have on hand even the peels or pieces you would normally throw away. Typically vegetable broth is made with carrots, onions and celery but feel free to add in any fresh herbs, onion peels, garlic, leeks, green onions, mushrooms, potatoes etc.
Equipment
- Pot
- Strainer
Ingredients
- 8 cups water
- 3 carrots whole
- 4 celery whole or broken in half to fit in pot
- 2 leeks chopped in half
- 1 onion chopped in half
- salt and pepper
- fresh herbs optional
- Dash soy sauce optional
Instructions
- Add 8 cups of water to pot.
- Add in all vegetables, salt and pepper and dash of soy sauce to pot. Bring to a boil once boiling turn down to a simmer. Simmer for 1 hour.
- Strain the broth and make sure you keep the liquid and discard the vegetables.
