Asian Chicken Burgers topped with a Creamy Broccoli Slaw
The Asian Chicken Burgers is my brother-in-law's favorite dish I make and always requests it! It’s crafted with the classic asian flavors such as ginger, garlic, sesame and soy sauce. The fresh shredded carrots and green onions give it some extra flavor and color to the patty. It's a tender and moist burger packed with flavor but the icing on the cake is the broccoli slaw. Topping your chicken burger with this crunchy sweet slaw brings all the flavors together in one big bite!
Equipment
- Whisk
- Cast Iron Pan
- Medium Bowl
- Sharp knife
- Measuring Cups
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1 cup shredded carrots (peel the carrot and shred using a cheese grater)
- 1/4 cup green onions chopped
- 1/2 tsp soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp sesame oil
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger powder
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup bread crumbs
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 4 hamburger buns optional
Creamy Broccoli Slaw
- 3 cups broccoli chopped
- 1/4 cup red onion minced
- 1/2 cup mayo
- 1 tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice
- 2 tsp sugar
Instructions
- For the broccoli slaw: In a small bowl or pyrex add in mayo, lime juice and sugar whisking with a fork until well blended. In a medium bowl add the broccoli, red onions and the dressing tossing to combine. Refrigerate slaw until ready to serve.
- Combine the chicken, green onion, soy sauce, garlic powder, sesame oil, carrots, ginger, bread crumbs and egg, gently mixing to incorporate. Divide the mixture into 4 patties and set aside. Add olive oil to a cast iron pan and heat to medium-high heat. Place the patties in the pan, turning once until done, 6 to 8 minutes per side or until the internal temperature is 160 degrees F.
- Place the patties on the bun bottoms or plate them just by themselves, top with about 1/3 cup of the slaw, add the bun top and enjoy!
