The homemade peanut free sauce is so quick and easy to make that you will never want to buy it pre-made again. The sauce is a great dipping sauce for spring rolls, chicken or even drizzle it over noodles for easy peanut noodles.
Spicy Peanut Free Chicken Lettuce Wraps

Ingredients
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1 head romaine lettuce or bibb lettuce
- 1 cup mushrooms, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 1 can water chestnuts, drained & chopped
- 1/2 white onion, minced
- 1/2 red pepper, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup red cabbage, shredded
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
Spicy Peanut Free Sauce
- 1/2 cup sunflower seed butter (optional substitute peanut or any other nut butter)
- 4 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp fresh lime juice
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp freshly grated ginger
- 1 tbsp garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp chili paste or flakes (optional)
- 2 tbsp rice wine vinegar
Instructions
Spicy Peanut Free Sauce
- Add all ingredients into a large bowl & whisk together. Depending on sauce consistency add in more or less water to create a creamy smooth texture.
- Bring large saucepan to a medium high heat. Add ground chicken and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes, making sure to crumble the chicken as it cooks; drain excess fat.
- In the same saucepan add back in ground chicken, onion, celery, mushrooms & water chestnuts. Cook over medium for additional 3-5 minutes. Add in the peanut free sauce and mix well.
- To serve, spoon several tablespoons of the chicken mixture into the center of a lettuce leaf and garnish with red pepper slices, shredded cabbage & sesame seeds.
